Megger Instruments

Megger Instruments, based in Dover, have been a manufacturer of high quality electrical testing equipment, since the late 1800’s.

Following a health and safety audit, arranged by Mark Clack, the Site Services Maintenance Manager, it was identified that anti-fatigue matting was required for the work stations on the assembly line. In line with the responsible approach to health and safety at Megger Instruments, they contacted Mats4U, along with two other suppliers, to help them identify a solution to their health and safety issue.

Mats4U, supplies of industrial matting, offered Megger the opportunity to trial a selection of anti-fatigue mats in their product range. The mats that Mats4U suggested were Happy Feet and Hog Heaven Anti-fatigue mats are used in a situation where a person is primarily standing in the same location for a long period of time, an assembly line being a prime example. The mats are designed to alleviate stress to the back and legs by providing a cushioned surface to stand on. As a result of this, anti-fatigue mats can reduce fatigue and improve productivity.

Mark Clack commented that Megger Instruments selected Mats4U to supply their mats, as they were a “much better quality than the products trialed from an alternative supplier, despite being a higher cost". They were also very impressed with the support and advice that Mats4U provided, as well as the 5 year warranty. Happy Feet and Hog Heaven offer excellent comfort and durability. They are extremely versatile and are ideal for use on production lines or in any industrial and commercial environments.

Since Mats4U installed anti fatigue matting at Megger Instruments, there have been some very positive comments with regard to how these mats have improved the workplace.

Irene Frost, an assembly line worker who originally instigated the project said “the mats have helped to eliminate corns on the feet, which were caused by standing at workstations for a long period of time”. Irene also commented that “the mats have eased aches and pains significantly, particularly  in  the  calves,  thighs  and  back”.
