The more you love your mat, the better.

It’s Valentine’s Day. The most romantic day of the year. The day when chocolates, florists, restaurants and holiday bookings have a dramatic increase in sales. You’ll start seeing stores and supermarkets flood their aisles with a dozen red roses, cute cards, and other Valentine’s Day gifts. What a great money-grabbing occasion! While many couples are celebrating their time together, and others are celebrating singledom, don’t forget your mat needs some love too! Especially entrance mats as they endure the highest volume of foot traffic. If they are loved and taken care of, they will take care of your environment.

Why it’s important to love your mat.

If you neglect your mat, you will see signs of it wanting more love and attention. The most obvious sign is if your mat is looking a bit rough. Your poor mat has had a hard time cleaning the dirt off people’s shoes, and now it needs a nice clean break. Over time your hardworking mat will have dirt and moisture sitting at the top of the surface. This makes the mat less effective and will not clean footwear efficiently. Instead, it will track more mud, dirt and moisture into the premises.  No one wants a dirty environment as it increases the risk of accidents and does not leave a good impression. The more you love your mat, the cleaner the environment!

How to love your mat

Cleaning your mat regularly is the first step to loving your mat. Many people tend to leave their mats to gather dirt, but if you clean them as often as you clean your floors, this will lessen accidents and keep your environment safe and spotless. However, this depends on the foot traffic. If you have a mat in an area with high foot traffic, they need to be cleaned more often compared to mats with lower foot traffic. Right place, right mat

Making sure the right mat is in the right place is also important. For example, you wouldn’t place a mat designed for indoor use outside. Outdoor mats endure high foot traffic, whereas indoor mats usually have a medium to low foot traffic. This can reduce the life-span of an indoor mat, track more dirt and water into buildings, and increase the likelihood of accidents.

Using the 3-entrance mat system helps to make sure your mat is in the right place. Not only that but using this system can save you a lot of time and money. It provides full support on stopping dirt and moisture from getting into buildings.

  1. First, you will need a strong outdoor rubber mat. It’s important for the mat to be weather resistant to endure harsh conditions. A great example is the Superscrape Non-Slip Rubber Mat. The raised nubs help to scrape dirt and mud off footwear. Ideal to use as an outdoor entrance mat.
  2. An Indoor bi-level mat handles moderate levels of dirt and moisture. The main function is to trap dirt in the lower level of the mat, so it does not stay on top of the surface. The dirt stays below the surface until it has been cleaned. Waterhog Classic and Waterhog Eco are known for being the best mats in the industry at removing dirt and water.
  3. Finally, having an indoor mat such as the Microluxx Highly Absorbent mat or Tri Grip Heavy Duty finishes off the job by eliminating the remaining dirt and moisture off footwear.

You will see a dramatic difference when using this simple system, and the love between you and your mat will improve tremendously.

Mats do not last forever but taking proper care of your mat and making sure it’s in a suitable area can expand their life-span. For more information, please do not hesitate to call us on 0121 313 6748 or email [email protected].
