5 reasons why you should spend more on a mat

You may not always notice them, but floor mats are everywhere. In hotels, schools, supermarkets, you name it. They come in all different shapes, sizes and even cool designs. Mats may seem unimportant for some, but they are very necessary for almost all buildings. What other product is going to quickly stop dirt and moisture from getting in? Mats are there to save the day! However, there are so many mats on the market, how do you know which to choose and how much to spend? Here are our top 5 reasons of why you should spend more on a higher quality mat.

1) They are safer. The less accidents the better.

The main function of a mat is to stop water and dirt from entering the premises. Standard, cheaper mats may do the job, but only for a short period. This is because they do not absorb as much moisture compared to higher quality mats, such as the Microluxx Absorbent Mat. After a short period of time, standard mats become less effective. This can lead to slips, falls and accidents, making the environment unsafe.

In addition, standard mats are usually not supported with a strong, suitable rubber back. Rubber backing on mats is crucial as they ensure the mat stays secure in one place and do not creep along the floor. Cheaper PVC or Vinyl backed mats tend to slip out of place, increasing the chances of accidents. They can even curl at the edges, which can cause a trip hazard. Some good examples of safe, rubber backed mats are the Waterhog Classic or Tri Grip Heavy Duty.

2) Longer lasting, which works out cheaper.

Don’t be intimidated by the price. Purchasing a more expensive, higher quality mat, will work out more economical in the long run. Think about it, you can spend £20 on a mat that may last one year, or £50 on a mat that could last 5 years or more. I know which I would choose! As mentioned above, cheaper mats can become worn quickly. If you choose to purchase cheaper mats, this will eventually tally up and become even more expensive in the long run, than investing in higher quality mats. Longer lasting mats like Waterhog Classic  or the Waterhog Eco have crush-proof rubber nubs to improve the performance and extend product life. Also, the colour of the mats does not fade. Your mat can be 5 years old and still look brand new and work just as well.

3) Higher quality mats are better for your wellbeing

Matting isn’t always just used for stopping dirt and water at entrances, it can also be used to help improve employee wellbeing.

Anti-fatigue mats for example, are used where employees must spend long periods of time on their feet, to reduce fatigue, aches and pains. Anti-Fatigue mats improve work quality and health due to the cushioning underfoot. This alleviates stress to joints, reduces pain and stimulates the blood flow through your lower body. Higher quality mats may be more expensive, but will be made with higher quality materials and therefore provide extra support and comfort for when you’re standing up for a long period of time. Spending more on a higher quality anti-fatigue mat will improve employee wellbeing for years to come.

4) Style

With higher quality mats, you get the best of both worlds. Function and style.Stated above, higher quality, bi-level entrance mats have crush-proof reinforced nubs. They will not suffer from the ‘worn path’ appearance of cheaper mats, instead they will stay looking great for an extended period of up to 5 years or more. Perfect for places with a lot of visitors. They will also not crack, split, or curl, which can look extremely untidy. Find a mat that’s best for you and check out our fashionable range: https://www.mats4u.co.uk/entrance-matting.html

5) They can survive almost anywhere.

Whether it’s pouring with rain, sunny, or even snowing, higher quality mats are durable for any type of whether and environment. These mats can endure being trampled on by school kids, shop-goers at supermarkets, loaded forklifts at warehouses, the list goes on!
