Some of the mats we sell at Mats4U, such as our TriGrip range, give you a choice of mat backing to select.

'Gripper back' mats feature a cleated rubber backing that performs best on carpeted surfaces. This comes as standard on all of our Waterhog products. The cleats help the mat stay in place on the carpeted surface and help to prevent 'carpet creep'.

'Flat back' mats feature a smooth rubber backing and is recommended on hard surfaces such as tile, marble, terazzo etc. We have found that the smooth backed mats slip and move less on hard surfaces.
